With so many choices, how do I choose a color for the exterior of my home?
The choice is not as complicated as it might seem. Many people live in complexes governed by Homeowner Associations (HOA). Because of this, you might be limited to certain types of colors. Light browns and off-whites might be acceptable, but bright orange and neon yellow would probably not be acceptable. You will also want to pay attention to resale value. If you plan on selling the house in the fairly near future, you will want to go with the more popular colors. You will also want to pay attention to the colors in your local environment. Light shades of blue and/or green may be acceptable if your are near the ocean or forest. Look at the colors and shades used by your neighbors. There might be a color combination that you really like. Something else to keep in mind is what shutters and window treatments will be placed on or near the window. You may want to find colors that blend in with the colors of these other items.
